Gurdwara Sacha Sauda is a powerful reminder of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings on selfless service and compassion. The lesson of “True Bargain” continues to inspire people to prioritize humanity over material wealth. This historical site not only preserves the legacy of Sikhism but also fosters interfaith harmony in the region.

Historical Background
Gurdwara Sacha Sauda is a sacred Sikh shrine located in Farooqabad, Sheikhupura District, Pakistan. This gurdwara is deeply associated with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, and commemorates a pivotal event in his early life that emphasized the concept of honest and selfless service.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s father, Mehta Kalu Ji, gave him a sum of 20 rupees and instructed him to conduct a profitable business transaction.
While on his way to the market, Guru Nanak encountered a group of hungry sadhus (holy men) who were in desperate need of food.
Instead of purchasing goods for trade, Guru Nanak used the money to buy food for the hungry sadhus.
When he returned home, his father was displeased, believing that Guru Nanak had wasted the money.
Guru Nanak explained that feeding the hungry was the “True Bargain” (Sacha Sauda) in life, emphasizing the value of selflessness over material gain.
